Features
Grape
It is obtained from the native Lacrima wine grapes.
Other species of authorized red grapes, as Merlot or Montepulciano, may be employed to a maximum of 15% .
Colour
Deep ruby red, with violet tones in the first period.
Bouquet and taste
Pleasant, intense, persisting and fruity. It also reminds red fruits. The taste is palatable, dry, savoury and soft. It is very typical.
Alcohol level
The minimum level allowed by D.O.C. rules is 11%.
Optimal aging
If tasted young bouquet and taste are brighter.
This wine can also moderately aged for 3-4 years: bouquet and taste get floral flavours of broom, heather and blue berry.
Glass and service
Glass to be middle size, spherical shaped, colourless, smooth, very thin and with long stem.
For middle aged wine a semiovoidal,narrowing toward the end glass is preferred. Softness of this wine allowes the service at about 15°C.
Slightly higher temperature, 16°-18° C is necessary for 3-4 years aged wine.
