WINE NAME: Lacrima di Morro d’Alba Superiore D.O.C.

LABELING: D.O.C. Controlled Designation of Origin.

PRODUCTION AREA: Lacrima di Morro d’Alba D.O.C. is typical of a limited area situated north of the river Esino, in the province of Ancona. The area comprises six municipalities: Morro d’Alba, from which it takes its name, Monte San Vito, San Marcello, Belvedere Ostrense, Ostra and Senigallia. However, the valleys and the hillsides of Senigallia that overlook the sea, are not included in the production area.

VINE VARIETY: Obtained from the grapes of the autochthonous Lacrima di Morro d’Alba D.O.C. vine variety. Other non-aromatic red grapes, suitable for the Montepulciano and Merlot production, can be added, either alone or in combination up to a maximum of 15%.

ELEVATION: 250 Meters above sea levels.

SOIL TYPE: Loose and clay soil.

AGE OF VINEYARDS: 18 years.

VINE TRAINING: Guyot.

MAXIMUM YIELD: 40 hl. of wine, 80 q. of grapes.

NUMBER OF PRODUCED BOTTLES: 3000.

MATURATION: 12 months in stainless steal barrels.

AGEING IN BOTTLE: 6 months.

APPEARANCE: Deep ruby red color, with violet shades in the first period.

FRAGRANCE AND TASTE: Pleasant, intense, persistent and fruity smell; it reminds of red wild berries. Very characteristic taste: pleasant, dry, sapid and smooth.

ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13%.

GOBLET AND SERVICE: Glass of medium spherical amplitude, smooth, thin and colourless. Long stem, tapered edge. Thanks to its smoothness, the wine can be served at a temperature of 15°C.

A higher temperature (16°-18°) is required for a tannic wine and for those that have reached a maturation of two or three years.

FOOD PAIRING: Its delicate and pleasant structure can be paired with red and meat sauces-based first courses, salmon, marinated bluefish starters, and white meat second courses. The “Lacrima”, in its sweetish and sparkling type, is an excellent wine to be served at the end of the meal.
